RetailX, Director of Content
Alison Embrey Medina is the director of content for RetailX, the complete event solution for a transformative retail market. In this role, she is tasked with creating the vision and framework of need-to-know content for the dynamic, increasingly “phygital” retail industry. She previously served as editor in chief/associate publisher of design:retail magazine, an award-winning trade publication serving the retail design industry.
In her 18-plus years in the publications and events industry, Medina has been solely focused on covering retail, and rigorously studies trends and consumer nuances affecting the art and science of physical store design, e-commerce and consumer behavior. She is regularly sought after as a speaker by conferences, tradeshows, retail associations, design schools, solution providers and retail brands, sharing her perspective via trend talks at events across the globe. She has also served on many judging panels, to include the EuroShop RetailDesign Awards, World Interior News Awards, PAVE Student Design Competition, RDI Student Design Competition, Shop! Design Awards and the KBIS Innovative Showroom Awards. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Magazine Journalism from The University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, and was named one of Folio: magazine’s Top Women in Media in 2016.
By building an intricate, global network of contacts, Medina enhances the content of RetailX by keeping its attendees and exhibitors informed on the most current, most engaging and most diverse issues in retail, helping shape its mission to serve the complete retail market.
