Pets at Home, Group Development Director
Pets at Home Group Plc is the largest specialist pet care business in the UK, and has grown from 1 store in 1991 to 452 today. Pets at Home Group Plc also operate 439 first opinion veterinary surgeries, 313 grooming salons and 4 specialist hospitals providing everything a pet owner needs to be able to look after their pet.
Wayne Kemp joined Pets at Home as a store manager in 1996. Wayne rose through a number of retail positions to reach the level of Regional Operations Director covering a region of circa 90 stores. In 2010 Wayne moved out of retail into the Support Office to take on the position of Head of Development. Responsible for the aggressive expansion programme of Pets at Home stores at that time, the role required the development of an entirely new set of skills relating to the design, build and maintenance of retail environments.
Latterly he has taken on the role of Group Development Director following the acquisition of Vets4Pets in 2013 and the subsequent creation of the veterinary division. He has overseen the accelerated programme to install pet services (veterinary and grooming) mezzanines into Pets at Home stores to create a more holistic Pet Care centre, and most recently has been the driving force behind the retailer’s new experiential based pet care centre concept.
