The New MPoC PCI-Standard for Mobile Payment Solutions (aka SoftPOS) was published on November 16th 2022. It allows any retailer to accept contactless payments with any smart device, even a commercial off-the-shelf one such as a smartphone, without the need for additional hardware. In this way, SoftPOS is a fully software based alternative to traditional payment terminals.
