Reversible CO2 heat pump for sustainable heating and air-conditioning of large buildings

Based on a detailed concept evaluation, the Migros Lucerne Corporation decides in summer 2018 to replace the existing oil heating and air-conditioning system in the Surseepark shopping center by two reversible CO2 heat pumps with a nominal heating capacity of 1,100 kW and a nominal cooling capacity of 1,260 kW. In the meantime, the reversible CO2 heat pumps have been developed, manufactured and installed on-site. Since August 2019, the reversible CO2 heat pumps are in operation and successfully supplying the required energies to the buildings. The "lessons learned" of the individual milestones, beginning from the concept idea to the commissioning, are explained and first experiences from the operation are presented.
